KNIGHTS START OFF 2016 STRONG

SOPHOMORE RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED EXCALIBUR AWARD FROM PRINCIPAL AYALA

A HUGE SHOUT OUT goes to Waylon Anderson, 10th grade (pictured with Principal Ayala). He is the recipient of the EXCALIBUR AWARD, a distinguished award to students who show acts of kindness and great sportsmanship. Read Waylon's story below from a parent at Rim of the World High School, who witnessed Waylon's actions at a basketball game and shared this email with our Principal:

February 2016 - Rim of the World High School played Rialto High in a California JV Basketball game last Thursday, a close game early, Rialto pulled away and was leading by 25 in the 4th when Rim brought a substitute into the game, Robbie, who is the student manager of the team, who loves basketball, who has a disability in his leg that prevents him from running much faster than a jog. The Rim team worked to get him the ball to shoot a three, they did, but he missed it. It went back and forth... like this. Time was called and both teams huddled. When Rim got the ball again they passed to Robbie with 20 seconds left on the clock, he fired a three pointer, but again it just missed. #20 [Waylon Anderson] on Rialto quickly crashed the board and hauled in an impressive defensive rebound with just seconds left on the clock...he turned... and passed the ball to Robbie, who shot again from three point range...and made it! Both teams were celebrating! The gym was chanting Robbie's name as the team carried him of the floor. It all happened too fast to take a picture, but never have I seen both teams so happy in a game decided by 27 points. Both coaches [RHS JV Basketball Coach, Troy Holland] and teams demonstrated the true meaning of Sportsmanship. Robbie later sent a group text to his team saying that was the best day of his life.
